Tuberculous Dactylitis


  • Is a rare manifestation of tuberculosis.
  • This radiographic manifestation is known spina ventosa, spina meaning small bone and ventosa meaning expanded with air.
  • Can mimic bone tumour, so a biopsy should be done.
  • It involves the diaphyseal expansile lesion with preservation of the periosteal cortex.
