Abdominal coarctation of aorta


Abdominal coarctation of aorta at the level of left renal artery. Left kidney is atrophied compared to right one.

  • Normally COA happens in proximal descending aorta near the ligamentum arteriosum.
  • Abdominal aortic coarctation is also known as middle aortic syndrome.
  • Associated with NF 1
  • The treatment of abdominal coarctation is often with medical therapy or surgery depending on severity.
